“Meet in Beijing 2008” is a venture created by a group of young people, from both China and the United States. |  |

| “Responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local people." |
| Its principles include: |
| Minimize tourism’s own environmental impact. |
| Build environmental and cultural awareness and respect. |
| Provide positive experiences for both visitors and hosts. |
| Provide direct financial benefits for conservation. |
| Provide financial benefits and empowerment for local people. |
| Raise sensitivity to host countries' political, environmental, and social climate. |
| We borrowed this buzz word and hope that you also make your visit to China an “ecotour”. Particularly, we have made three suggestions. They are both easy to implement and will help enrich your travel experience: |
| Small group, authentic experience |
| Share travel experiences with a group of 4-6 people, both your friends and local buddies; this gives you more flexibility and a great opportunity to meet new people and see China through the eyes of Chinese. |
| Get a bicycle |
| The most environmental-friendly method to transport (if not walking). Beijing is very flat, and biking on the bicycle lanes or ancient hutong alleyways is an ideal way to see the city. |
| Support our (forthcoming) package/ticketing service |
| Any profit from which will be donated to a UNICEF project, for improving the lives of children orphaned by AIDS in China. |
